Monmouth County Man Indicted For Vehicular Homicide & Leaving The Scene

Saturday, May 24, 2025, 2:00 P.M. ET. 2 Minute Read, By Art Fletcher: Englebrook Independent News,

ASBURY PARK, NJ.- On Friday, May 23, 2025, a Monmouth County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging a 23-year-old Millstone Township, New Jersey, man in connection with allegedly running down an Asbury Park, New Jersey, man with his vehicle and leaving the scene in February 2025.

According to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago, Dominic Allen, 23, of Millstone Township, was charged on Friday with one count of second-degree Vehicular Homicide; and one count of second-degree Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Crash Resulting in Death. If convicted at trial, Allen faces up to ten years in New Jersey State Prison.

The indictment stems from an investigation that began on February 11, 2025, when, just minutes after 4:00 p.m., members of both the Neptune Township Police Department and the Asbury Park Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a man having been struck by a motor vehicle on Stratford Avenue between Myrtle and Fisher Avenues in the City of Asbury Park.

Upon arrival, Police Officers located a man, later identified as Kyzair Robinson, 19, of Asbury Park, New Jersey, lying in the roadway, having sustained serious and life-threatening injuries. Mr. Robinson was immediately transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where, despite life-saving efforts, Mr. Robinson succumbed to his injuries and was tragically pronounced deceased on February 12, 2025.

During a joint investigation, Detectives of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Bureau, in conjunction with the Asbury Park Police Department, were able to identify Allen as the driver of the vehicle and uncovered that Mr. Robinson was talking with Allen through an open driver’s side window. During the conversation, Allen pulled away with Mr. Robison hanging on to the vehicle and ultimately falling under the car as Allen fled the scene.

Allen was later apprehended in Orlando, Florida, by members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and extradited to New Jersey. Upon returning to New Jersey, Allen was remanded to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution, where he remains detained pending future court proceedings in Monmouth County Superior Court in Freehold, New Jersey.
