Vineland Man Sentenced For Meth & Fentanyl Charges

MILLVILLE, NJ.- Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae reported on Friday, May 16, 2025, that Wayne E. Broughton, 34, of Vineland, New Jersey, appeared in Cumberland County Superior Court and was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Niki Arbitter to an extended term of 10 years in New Jersey State Prison, with a parole ineligibility of three years for his conviction on multiple narcotics offenses.

     Broughton was convicted of one count of second-degree Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine; third-degree Possession with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl; and two counts of third-degree Possession of Methamphetamine, and Fentanyl.

Arrest Warrant Leads To Drugs Being Found

     The conviction and sentence stem from an incident that unfolded on August 14, 2020, at around 6:30 a.m., when members of the Vineland Police Department, with assistance from the Milleville Police Department, went to an apartment located on the 1700 Block of Newcombtown Road, in the City of Millville to execute an arrest warrant for Broughton on an unrelated matter.

     Broughton was taken into custody without incident. After securing the residence, Police Officers uncovered multiple illicit narcotics throughout the apartment. Police Officers recovered over a half-ounce of methamphetamine pills, over a half-ounce of fentanyl, and multiple items consistent with narcotics distribution. Following the recovery of the contraband, Broughton was formally charged with the offenses.
