Man Tragically Killed Sunday Night By Stray Bullet In Northwest D.C.

WASHINGTON, DC.- A 59-year-old Northwest, D.C., man was fatally shot after he was struck by a stray bullet while inside his Northwest, D.C. apartment early Sunday evening in Northwest, D.C.

     According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Sunday, May 25, 2025, just shortly after 6:00 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Fourth District responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a shooting on the 1500 Block of Ogden Street in Northwest, D.C.

Police Officers Find Man Dead After Being Struck By Stray Bullet

     Upon arrival, Police Officers located a man, later identified as Jose Carcamo, 59, of Northwest, D.C., inside his apartment, having succumbed to a gunshot wound. Mr. Carcamo was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services.

     During the initial investigation, Detectives and responding Police Officers determined that the gunfire had erupted in an alley located at the rear of Mr. Carcamo’s apartment complex. One bullet struck a window of Mr. Carcamo’s apartment, killing him. Detectives further determined that he was not the target of the shooting.

     The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made as Police continue the search for the gunman who fatally shot Mr.Carcamo.
