According to Acting U.S. Attorney Kelly A. Norris, on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, Becky Gillespie, 29, of Columbus, Ohio, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio and was sentenced by Chief U.S. District Court Judge Sarah D. Morrison to 276 months in federal prison, to be followed by a term of supervised release for her previously entered guilty plea to federal child sexual exploitation offenses.
Gillespie Initially Charged In December 2024
Gillespie was initially taken into custody and charged in January 2024. In December 2024, Gillespie appeared in Federal Court in Columbus, Ohio, and pleaded guilty to one count of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor and one count of Distribution of Child Pornography.
According To Charging Documents
According to the charging documents filed with the District Court, on multiple dates in December 2023, Gillespie sent Snapchat videos or offered to send videos to other users that depicted Gillespie engaged in sexual acts and sexually explicit conduct with a 3-year-old child. During the investigation, law enforcement Investigators uncovered a digital image of a second young child who was posed on Gillespie’s nude breasts on her electronic devices.
Gillespie came into the sights of law enforcement when she was communicating with another individual who was under investigation in Australia for numerous child pornography offenses. Australian Federal Authorities notified the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations, which initiated the investigation into Gillespie’s internet activities.
Investigators additionally uncovered that Gillespie and other Snapchat users regularly traded digital images and video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of children, including the content she created.
