East Orange Man Fatally Shot Early Monday Morning In Phillipsburg

PHILLIPSBURG, NJ.- Detectives of the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office and the Phillipsburg Police Department are continuing the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting of an East Orange, New Jersey, man who was fatally gunned down while trying to force his way into a Phillipsburg residence early Monday morning.

     According to Acting Warren County Prosecutor Jessica L. Cardone, on Monday, June 2, 2025, shortly before 4:30 a.m., members of the Phillipsburg Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting an individual attempting to force their way into a residence located on the 100 Block of Summit Avenue in the Town of Phillipsburg.

     Upon arrival, Police Officers found Kevin Clervil of East Orange on the ground outside the residence, suffering from multiple life-threatening gunshot wounds. Mr Clervil was immediately transported to St. Luke’s Hospital Warren Campus, where, despite life-saving efforts, Mr. Clervil tragically succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased a short time later.

     At this time, the investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made as the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office and the New Jersey State Police are assisting the Phillipsburg Police Department. Police reported that the individuals involved in this incident were known to each other.
