Raleigh Man Sentenced For Cross-Country Narcotics Conspiracy

RALEIGH, NC.- Late last month, a 30-year-old Raleigh, North Carolina, man, and known United Blood Nation gang member found out that he would be spending nearly a decade and a half in federal prison after being sentenced for his role in a drug trafficking operation that was responsible for distributing hundreds of thousands of fentanyl pills throughout the Eastern District of North Carolina.

     According to Acting U.S. Attorney Daniel P. Bubar, on Thursday, May 22, 2025, Shakeim Weeks, 30, of Raleigh, North Carolina, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge James C. Dever, III, to 192 months in federal prison, to be followed by a term of supervised release for his previously entered guilty plea to a federal narcotics offense.

Weeks Pleads Guilty In February

     On February 27, 2025, Weeks previously appeared in Federal Court in Raleigh, North Carolina, and pleaded guilty to Conspiracy to Distribute and Possession with Intent to Distribute 400 Grams or More of a Controlled Substance Containing a Detectable Amount of Fentanyl.

Weeks Confirmed As Gang Member

     According to charging documents filed and statements made in the District Court, during an ongoing narcotics investigation, Investigators identified and determined that Weeks, an identified member of the United Blood Nation gang, was part of a cross-country drug trafficking organization that was obtaining fentanyl pills in California and Arizona and transporting them into Raleigh, North Carolina area for distribution.

Investigators Find Fentanyl Pills Hidden In Lego Boxes

     On June 7, 2024, Weeks was arrested when law enforcement Investigators found around 100,000 fentanyl pills, weighing just around 11 kilograms, inside Weeks’ suitcase when he returned to North Carolina from a resupply trip to Arizona. Investigators found the pills in Weeks’ suitcase packaged in Lego boxes consistent with other seizures of fentanyl pills from the drug trafficking organization.
