Man Fatally Gunned Down Late Tuesday Night On A Southeast Street

WASHINGTON, DC.- A 25-year-old Southeast, D.C., man became the latest victim to fall prey to the raging gun violence plaguing the Nation’s Capitol City after he was fatally gunned down Tuesday night in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Southeast, D.C.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, just shortly after 10:00 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s First District responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a shooting on the 1200 Block of East Capitol Street in Southeast, D.C.
Police Officers Find Man Shot On Street
Upon arrival, Police Officers located a man, later identified as Marcellus Smith, 25, of Southeast, D.C., suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. Mr. Smith was immediately transported by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services to a nearby hospital, where, despite life-saving efforts, Mr. Smith tragically succumbed to his injury and was pronounced deceased a short time later.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made as Detectives continue the investigation into the circumstances that led up to the shooting and the search for the gunman.
