NASHVILLE, TN.- On Tuesday, a 65-year-old Mexican national, and Franklin, Tennessee, former children’s soccer coach, learned he would most likely die in federal prison after pleading guilty in Federal Court in Nashville, Tennessee, to multiple counts of child exploitation and immigration fraud crimes.

According to Acting U.S. Attorney Robert E. McGuire, on Tuesday, Camilo Campos-Hurtado, a Mexican national residing in Franklin, Tennessee, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee and pleaded guilty to four counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor; one count of Receipt of Child Pornography; one count of Using or Possessing Fraudulent Immigration Documents; and one count of Possessing an Identification Document Which was Stolen or Produced Without Lawful Authority.

Campos-Hurtado Faces Up To Life In Federal Prison

Following entering his guilty plea on Wednesday, a U.S. District Court Judge scheduled sentencing for October 29, 2025. At that time, Campos-Hurtado faces a mandatory minimum of 15 years and up to life in federal prison. When sentenced, a U.S. District Court Judge will determine the term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offenses and Campos-Hurtado’s prior criminal history, if any.

Upon any sentence imposed, Campos-Hurtado will face immediate deportation proceedings and be removed from the United States.

“Campos preyed on children in our community for years, using his position to gain the trust of the victims, only to betray them by sexually abusing them,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Robert E. McGuire. “Protecting children in our community and holding child sex offenders to maximum accountability is among the highest priorities of our office and the Department of Justice. At sentencing, we will seek to guarantee that Campos does not have any chance to hurt another child.”

Following an investigation into child sexual abuse crimes that had been committed by Campos-Hurtado, law enforcement obtained and executed multiple search warrants for Campos-Hurtado’s Franklin, Tennessee, residence, electronic devices, and his vehicle.

Investigators Find Fake Immigration Papers And Child Pornography

During the search, Investigators discovered digital images and video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of prepubescent and pubescent children, and numerous counterfeit identification and immigration documents. During a forensic examination of Campos-Hurtado’s cellular phone and other electronic devices, Investigators uncovered hundreds of video files containing child pornography.

During Tuesday’s plea allocution, Campos-Hurtado admitted that between 2017 and 2021, he utilized the internet to view, download, and create digital images and video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of children.

Acting U.S. Attorney McGuire commended the investigative work of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations and the Franklin Police Department, which led to Campos-Hurtado’s guilty plea on Tuesday. Campos-Hurtado further admitted to possessing fraudulent immigration documents to deceive law enforcement and immigration officials.
