PHILLIPSBURG, NJ.- A 60-year-old Hellertown, Pennsylvania, man, and previously convicted felon will remain detained in the Warren County Correctional Center, pending trial, after being charged late last month with unlawfully possessing a handgun that was found in his vehicle following a motor vehicle crash.
According to Acting Warren County Prosecutor Jessica L. Cardone, on Sunday, May 25, 2025, shortly around 4:45 a.m., New Jersey State Troopers from the Perryville Barracks responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a motor vehicle that had run off the roadway into the woods.
Upon Arrival State Troopers Find Handgun In Engine Compartment Of Car
Upon arrival, State Troopers located the vehicle and the driver, identified as Vincent S. Noel, 60, of Hellertown, Pennsylvania, was transported to St. Luke’s Anderson Campus for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. During a routine safety inspection of the vehicle prior to it being removed from the scene, State Troopers located a handgun in the engine compartment tucked behind a front headlight.
Due to the fact that the motor vehicle was registered to Noel and he was the only occupant in the vehicle at the time of the crash, State Troopers formally charged Noel on a complaint warrant with one count of first-degree Possession of a Handgun Without a Permit; second-degree Certain Persons Not to Possess Weapons or Ammunition; fourth-degree Possession of Hollow Point Ammunition; and fourth-degree Certain Persons Not to Possess Ammunition.
Noel Detained Pending Trial
Noel was placed into Police Custody at the hospital later in the day on Sunday, May 25, 2025. After being released, Noel was transported to the Warren County Correctional Center. Following a pretrial detention hearing on Monday, June 16, 2025, a Warren County Superior Court Judge ordered Noel to remain detained pending trial.
“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
