Parkersburg Drug & Gun Peddler Pleads Guilty To Federal Narcotics Crime

CHARLESTON, W.VA.- A 39-year-old Parkersburg, West Virginia, man found out that he could potentially be facing up to 20 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to selling methamphetamine to an informant last summer in Parkersburg, West Virginia.
According to Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa G. Johnston, on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, Aaron Lee Mitter, 39, a resident of Parkersburg, West Virginia, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Joseph R. Goodwin to one count of Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Methamprtamine.
Judge Goodwin Schedules Sentencing For September 22, 2025
Following his plea allocution, Judge Goodwin accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for September 22, 2025. At that time, Mitter faces up to 20 years in federal prison, at least three years of supervised release, and a $1 million fine. At sentencing, a U.S. District Court Judge will determine the term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offense and Mitter’s prior criminal history.
According To Court Documents
According to charging documents and statements made in the District Court, on July 11, 2024, during an investigation into narcotics distribution within Parkersburg, West Virginia, Mitter sold just around 24.50 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential informant in exchange for $280 during a controlled buy under the observation of law enforcement investigators.
During his plea allocution on Tuesday, Mitter admitted to the Court that he sold the methamphetamine to the informant. In addition, Mitter admitted to selling an unregistered, privately made firearm, commonly known as a “Ghost Gun,” and a magazine capable of holding 45 rounds of ammunition on the same day for $400.
Just six days following the controlled buy, Investigators obtained and executed a court-authorized search warrant at a Parkersburg, West Virginia, apartment where Mitter was staying. During the search, Investigators located and seized around 45.67 grams of methamphetamine. Mitter also admitted on Tuesday that he intended to use some of the methamphetamine and sell the rest.

Acting U.S. Attorney Johnston commended the investigative work of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, and the Parkersburg Police Department.
