Chicago Drug Dealer Sentenced For West Virginia Federal Drug Crime

HUNTINGTON, W.VA.- A 45-year-old Chicago, Illinois, man, will be spending the next eight years in federal prison, after being sentenced on Monday, for selling nearly a kilogram of methamphetamine to a confidential informant last summer in the Southern District of West Virginia.
On Monday, June 23, 2025, Edmund Omar Johnson, also known as “Chicago” and “Polo,” 45, of Chicago, Illinois, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Robert C. Chambers to 96 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release after pleading guilty to Distribution of a Quantity of a Substance Containing Methamphetamine.
According To The U.S. Attorney’s Office
According to Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa G. Johnston and charging documents and statements made in the District Court, on June 30, 2024, during an ongoing narcotics investigation, Johnson sold around 865 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential informant during a controlled buy under the observation of law enforcement from a Fourth Avenue residence in Huntington, West Virginia.
During his plea allocution, Johnson admitted in court to selling the methamphetamine to the informant and setting up the sale beforehand.
   Acting U.S. Attorney Johnston commended the investigative work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Cabell County Sheriff’s Office, which led to the successful prosecution of Johnson.Â
