Paterson Man Sentenced For Sexually Assaulting Young Paterson Girl

PATERSON, NJ.- On Friday, a 54-year-old Paterson, New Jersey, man, a convicted child predator, learned he would be in his seventies when he is released from New Jersey State Prison after being sentenced for his conviction for sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl over two years in Paterson, New Jersey.
According to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes, on January 4, 2023, the Paterson Police Department contacted Detectives of the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit after the Police Department received a report that a 10-year-old girl had been sexually assaulted in Passaic, New Jersey.
Tello Charged Following An Investigation
During the ensuing investigation, Detectives of the Passaic County Special Victims Unit interviewed the child victim and several additional witnesses and determined that Cirilo Tello, 54, of Paterson, New Jersey, sexually assaulted the young girl on multiple occasions between October 2020 and October 2022 inside a residence in Paterson, New Jersey.
Based on the Detectives’ investigation, Tello was taken into custody and charged with multiple child sex crimes committed against the young girl and her brother, who was present during the sexual assaults.
Tello Convicted Of Child Sex Crimes Late Last Year
On December 2, 2024, following a nearly month-long trial in Passaic County Superior Court before Superior Court Judge Barbara J.Buono Stanton, a jury found Tello guilty of one count of second-degree Sexual Assault; and two counts of second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
On Friday, June 27, 2025, Tello appeared in Passaic County Superior Court and was sentenced by Judge Buono Stanton to an aggregate term of 17 years in New Jersey State Prison, subject to the No Early Release Act, which will require Tello to serve 85% of his term of imprisonment before becoming eligible for parole. In addition to the term of imprisonment, Judge Buono Stanton ordered Tello, upon release from prison, to be subjected to parole supervision for life and register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law registration requirements.
