NORTH BERGEN, NJ.- A 30-year-old North Bergen, New Jersey, man, and a convicted sexual predator, will be spending the next 24 years in New Jersey State Prison after being sentenced last Friday for the kidnapping and violent rape of a 23-year-old woman that occurred in the fall of 2019 in a North Bergen Church Cemetary.

According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, on Friday, June 27, 2025, Oscar Ramirez, 30, of North Bergen, New Jersey, appeared in Hudson County Superior Court and was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Mitzy Galis-Menendez to 24-years in State Prison for his previouly entered guilty plea to one count of first-degree Kidnapping; and Aggravated Sexual Assault.

In handing down the sentence on Friday, Judge Galis-Menendez ordered the sentence to be subject to the No Early Release Act, which will require Ramirez to serve 85% of his custodial term before becoming eligible for parole. Additionally, Ramirez will be subject to parole supervision for life and be required to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law registration requirements.

The guilty plea and sentence stem from an incident that occurred on October 26, 2019, when a 23-year-old woman reported being approached by an unknown man, later identified as Ramirez, while she was walking along 46th Street in North Bergen. Ramirez grabbed her from behind, threatened her with a sharp object, and then forcibly sexually assaulted her at the Grove Church Cemetery in North Bergen, New Jersey.
