Wayne County Man Pleads Guilty To Unlawful Possession Of A Firearm

CHARLESTON, W.VA.- A 52-year-old Wayne County, West Virginia, man, and a previously convicted felon, will be facing up to 15 years in federal prison after pleading guilty yesterday in Federal Court in Charleston, West Virginia, to a federal firearms violation.
According to Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa G. Johnston, on Monday, June 30, 2025, Randy Price, 52, of Wayne, West Virginia, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Joseph R. Goodwin to Being a Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm, Convicted Felon.
Judge Goodwin Schedules Sentencing For October 2, 2025
Following entering his guilty plea yesterday, Judge Goodwin accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for October 2, 2025. At that time, Price faces up to 15 years in federal prison, up to three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000. When sentenced, a U.S. District Court Judge will determine the term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offense and Price’s prior criminal history.
According To Court Documents
According to charging documents and statements made in the District Court, on July 16, 2019, members of the Charleston Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle being operated by Price. During the stop, Price exited his vehicle and fled on foot but was quickly apprehended. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, Police Officers located and seized a Raven Arms MP-25 .25-caliber handgun.
Federal law prohibits a person with a prior felony conviction from owning or possessing a firearm and ammunition. Price knew that when he possessed the handgun on July 16, 2019, he was prohibited from possessing the firearm due to his prior felony convictions for involuntary manslaughter and aggravated robbery in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, Circuit Court of Common Pleas, in June 2022.
