Man Fatally Gunned Down Early Tuesday Morning In Southeast D.C.

WASHINGTON, DC.- A 50-year-old Northwest, D.C., man becomes the latest victim to be killed in the Nation’s Capitol City, after gunfire erupted early Tuesday morning in Southeast, D.C.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, just shortly after 2:00 a.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s First District responded to a report of gunfire on the 1800 Block of E Street in Southeast, D.C.
Police Officers Find Man Fatally Gunned Down
Upon arrival, Police Officers located a man, identified as Lawrence Meekins, 50, of Northwest, D.C., on the ground, having succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds. Mr. Meekins was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made as Detectives continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of Mr. Meekins and the search for a suspect.
