According to U.S. Attorney John A. Sarcone, on Monday, June 25, 2025, Willie Green, 42, of Albany, New York, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York and was sentenced by Senior U.S. District Court Judge Frederick J. Scullin to 63 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release after pleading guilty to being a Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm, Convicted Felon.
During his previously plea allocution, Green admitted that on January 1, 2022, he possessed a loaded handgun in Albany, New York. Green knew that when he possessed the handgun, he was prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm and ammunition due to prior felony convictions.
Green Has An Extensive Criminal History
Green has an extensive criminal history that includes a 2024 murder conviction, which was secured by the Albany County District Attorney’s Office. The 63-month sentence that was handed down last Monday will run consecutively to his 25 years-to-life New York State Prison term for the 2024 murder conviction.
United States Attorney Sarcone stated: “Willie Green cannot serve enough prison time for the crimes he’s committed. He should never get out, and if he is granted parole by New York State, he will be immediately taken to federal prison to start serving his term of imprisonment in this case. Albany is safer if this murderer stays locked up for good.”
ATF Special Agent in Charge Bryan Miller stated: “This sentence reflects our unwavering commitment to holding violent offenders accountable, especially those who continue to possess firearms despite felony convictions. This individual not only admitted to carrying a loaded firearm illegally, but he is also serving a 25-to-life sentence for murder. His actions represent the very threat to public safety that ATF and our law enforcement partners work tirelessly to prevent. Thank you to our partners at Albany PD and U.S. Attorney’s Office NDNY for their efforts.”
