Garfield Man Charged With Distributing & Possessing Child Pornography

GARFIELD, NJ.- On Wednesday, following an internet child pornography investigation, a 32-year-old Garfield, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with allegedly distributing and possessing digital images and video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of children.
According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, Detectives of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit executed a court-authorized search warrant at the residence of Christopher Bentos, 32, of Garfield, New Jersey, during the course of an online child pornography.
The investigation uncovered that Bentos utilized the internet to view, download, possess, distribute, and share digital images and video files depicting nude and or sexually explicit prepubescent and pubescent children, including some of children engaging in sexually explicit conduct.
Charges Filed Against Bentos
Accordingly, on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, Bentos was taken into custody and formally charged with one count of second-degree Distribution of Child Pornography; and third-degree Possession of Child Pornography. Bentos was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Bergen County Jail, pending future court proceedings in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.
