Police Charge Man In Monday’s Southeast Gunpoint Robbery

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Friday, July 4, 2025, the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department reported that a 22-year-old man was taken into custody and charged in connection with an armed robbery that occurred Monday afternoon in Southeast, D.C.

     According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Monday, June 30, 2025, members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of an armed robbery on the 1700 Block of Marion Barry Avenue in Southeast, D.C.

Police Officers Locate Victim Who Reported Being Robbed

     Upon arrival, Police Officers were informed by the victim that while on Marion Barry Avenue, they were approached by a man who pulled out a handgun and demanded money. The victim complied, and the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle.

     Based on a description provided by the victim, the Metropolitan Police Department’s Falcon 1 and canvassing Police Officers located the vehicle and suspect, identified as Taquan Hardy, 22, of Southeast, D.C. As a result of the Detectives’ investigation, Hardy was formally charged with one count of Armed Robbery.

     Hardy was processed on the charge and was transported to the D.C. Central Detention Facility, pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
