Phillipsburg Man Charged In Apparent Domestic Dispute Knife Attack

LOPATCONG TOWNSHIP, NJ.- A 52-year-old Phillipsburg, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with allegedly assaulting a woman in an apparent domestic dispute that occurred early Monday morning in a Lopatcong Township home.
According to Acting Warren County Prosecutor Jessica L. Cardone, on Monday, July 7, 2025, just shortly after 5:00 a.m., members of the Lopatcong Township Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a domestic dispute at a residence located on the 1000 Block of Birch Lane in the Township.
Upon Arrival, Police Officers Find Woman Injured
Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man and a woman who had been involved in an apparent verbal altercation that turned violent when the man, identified as Wayne Turpin, 52, of Phillipsburg, New Jersey, picked up a kitchen knife and assaulted the woman, causing serious injuries. The woman, who is known to Turpin, was immediately transported to St. Luke’s Warren Hospital, where she was treated for her injuries and was released later in the day.
Turpin was taken into custody at the scene and was formally charged with one count of second-degree Aggravated Assault; third-degree Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon; and third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.
Turpin was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Warren County Correctional Center. On Tuesday, July 8, 2025, Turpin made his initial appearance in Warren County Superior Court and was released on pretrial conditions, pending future court proceedings.
