MILLVILLE, NJ.- On Monday, a 34-year-old former Columbus, Ohio, man learned he would be spending at least the next five decades in New Jersey State Prison after being sentenced for fatally gunning down a 28-year-old Bridgeton, New Jersey, man at a Millville, New Jersey, apartment complex in the summer of 2021.
According to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae, on Monday, July 7, 2025, Darryl Wallace, 34, formerly of Columbus, Ohio, appeared in Cumberland County Superior Court and was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Niki Arbittier to 60 years in New Jersey State Prison, subject to the No Early Release Act, which will require Wallace to serve 85% of his custodial term before becoming eligible for parole.
In handing down the sentence on Monday, Judge Arbittier additionally sentenced Wallace to a concurrent term of 10 years in New Jersey State Prison for possessing a firearm by a convicted felon.
On October 8, 2024, following a trial in Cumberland County Superior Court, a jury found Wallace guilty of first-degree Murder; second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; and second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose. Additionally, on October 9, 2024, the jury found Wallace guilty on the charge of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Person.
Sentence Stems From June 2012 Shooting Death
The convictions and sentences stem from an investigation that began on June 24, 2021, when members of the Millville Police Department responded to the Carlton House Apartment Complex in Millville, New Jersey, on a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, Police Officers found Dominick Hull, 28, of Bridgeton, New Jersey, lying in the parking lot, having sustained a single gunshot wound to his head. Mr. Hull was transported to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, New Jersey, where, despite life-saving efforts, Mr. Hull tragically succumbed to his injury a week later and was pronounced deceased.
During the ensuing investigation, Detectives recovered video surveillance camera footage from the apartment complex, which showed Wallace approaching Mr. Hull and his friends and then firing four shots at them with what was later determined to be a 9mm semi-automatic handgun. Following Wallace’s identification as the shooter, Detectives learned that he was not permitted to possess a firearm due to a prior felony conviction. Wallace was located and taken into custody in Phoenix, Arizona, on August 12, 2021, and extradited back to New Jersey on September 1, 2021.
