COVINGTON, KY.- A 35-year-old Maysville, Kentucky, man, and a local Mason County meth dealer who was on parole for a prior state drug trafficking conviction will be spending over the next two decades in federal prison after he was sentenced last Thursday for a federal drug trafficking crime.
According to Acting U.S. Attorney Paul McCaffrey, on Thursday, July 3, 2025, David M. Elliot, 35, of Maysville, Kentucky, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky and was sentenced by Chief U.S. District Court Judge David Bunning to 262 months in federal prison, to be followed by ten years of supervised release after pleading guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Methamphetamine.
According To Court Documents
According to charging information filed with the District Court, on September 1, 2025, members of the Ft. Thomas Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Courtney Beckett, Elliot’s co-defendant, for motor vehicle violations. During the traffic stop, Police Officers became suspicious of Ms. Beckett’s erratic behavior. During a quick pat-down of Ms. Beckett, Police Officers found a methamphetamine pipe in her pocket and removed Elliot from the vehicle.
During a search of the vehicle, Police Officers located two bags of methamphetamine in Beckett’s purse, and a subsequent search of Elliot uncovered 165.5 grams of methamphetamine hidden in the waistband of Elliot’s pants.
During questioning by Police Officers and statements later made during his plea allocution, Elliot admitted that all the methamphetamine was his and that he and Beckett drove to the Cincinnati, Ohio, and Northern Kentucky border to purchase the methamphetamine and were on their way back to Maysville, Kentucky, and had instructed Beckett to hold the methamphetamine for him.
In March 2022, Elliot was convicted of a drug trafficking offense in Mason County Circuit Court and was on parole at the time of the instant offense. Beckett previously pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 66 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release. Â
