Bayonne Man Charged With Child Pornography Offense

BAYONNE, NJ.- On Thursday, following an investigation, a 24-year-old Bayonne, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with allegedly possessing digital images and video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of prepubescent and pubescent children.
According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, on Thursday, July 10, 2025, Jonathan Chevere, 24, of Bayonne, New Jersey, was formally charged with one count of third-degree Possession of Child Pornography. He was taken into custody by Detectives of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Victims Unit and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task at his Bayonne, New Jersey, residence.
After being processed on the charge, Chevere was remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending future court proceedings in Hudson County Superior Court in Jersey City, New Jersey.
Investigation Uncovers Child Porn
The charge stems from an investigation that began when Detectives of the Hudson County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received multiple CyberTips regarding an individual in the Hudson County, New Jersey, area who was utilizing various social media platform accounts to store media files containing child pornography.
Detectives Locate 250 Media Files
During the investigation, Detectives determined that Chevere utilized these social media accounts to store media files. Further investigation uncovered more than 250 files containing the sexual exploitation and abuse of children.
If convicted at trial, Chevere faces up to 5 years in New Jersey State Prison and would be required to register as a sex offender pursuant to Megan’s Law registration requirements, and be subject to parole supervision for life.
