NEW HAVEN, CT.- U.S. Attorney David X. Sullivan reported on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, that Devaro Taylor, 35, of New Haven, Connecticut, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Omar A. Williams to 28 months in federal prison after previously pleading guilty to a federal drug trafficking offense.
According to charging documents filed with the District Court, in 2020, the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s New Haven Safe Streets Gang Task Force and the New Haven Police Department launched an investigation into narcotics trafficking and related criminal activity in and around the New Haven, Connecticut, area.
Undercover Investigators Purchase Crack Cocaine From Taylor
During the investigation, Investigators identified Taylor as a narcotics distributor. Between September and December 2020, Investigators made controlled purchases of crack cocaine from Taylor. Investigators obtained a court-authorized wiretap of Taylor’s cellular phone, which captured Taylor arranging sales of not only crack cocaine but also powder cocaine to multiple drug customers from the New Haven area.
Following the controlled purchases and the discovery of Taylor’s cellular phone conversation regarding narcotics sales, on January 6, 2021, Taylor was taken into custody. On that date, Investigators executed a court-authorized search of Taylor’s New Haven home. During the search, Investigators located and seized around 124 grams of cocaine, around 226 grams of crack cocaine, and $6,702 in U.S. currency in denominations consistent with street-level narcotics sales.
Taylor Pleads Guilty To The Charge
On December 7, 2021, Taylor appeared in Federal Court and pleaded guilty to one count of Conspiracy to Distribute and to Possess with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Crack Cocaine.
