Atlantic City Man Charged With Fatally Gunning Down A Man Late Last Month

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ.- On Friday, following an investigation, a 37-year-old Atlantic City, New Jersey, man who had previously pleaded guilty and served prison time for a 2006 gang-related homicide was formally charged in connection with the shooting death of a 40-year-old Atlantic City man that occurred late last month on North Virginia Avenue in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

     According to Atlantic County Prosecutor William E. Reynolds, Kelsey Smith, 37, of Atlantic City, New Jersey, a admitted member of the Nine Trey Gangsters set of the Bloods Street Gang, was formally charged on Friday, July 11, 2025, with first-degree Murder and related weapons charges for the fatal shooting of Robert Stanley Davis, 40, of Atlantic City, New Jersey. Smith was served with the charges at the Atlantic County Justice Facility, where he is currently detained on weapons offenses.

According To Information Filed In The Criminal Complaint

     According to the charging information filed in the criminal complaint, on Thursday, June 26, 2025, just shortly before 9:00 p.m., members of the Atlantic City Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a man lying on the sidewalk outside the Shore Park apartments, located at 225 North Virginia Avenue in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

     Upon arrival, Police Officers found the man, later identified as Robert Stanley Davis, 40, unresponsive on the sidewalk, having succumbed to a gunshot wound to the head. Mr. Davis was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene. An autopsy performed by the Southern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the Cause of Death to be a gunshot wound and the Manner of Death to be Homicide.

Detectives Identify Smith As The Shooter

     During the ensuing investigation, Detectives of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department Police Department were able to identify Smith as the individual responsible for the fatal shooting of Mr. Davis.
