Randolph County Man Pleads Guilty To A Federal Methamphetamine Charge

ELKINS, W.VA.- A 28-year-old Harmon, West Virginia, man, and a local meth distributor could face up to 40 years in federal prison after pleading guilty on Friday to a federal drug trafficking charge.

     According to Acting U.S. Attorney Randolph J. Bernard, on Friday, July 11, 2025, Jacob Paul Wilson, 28, of Harmon, West Virginia, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia and pleaded guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael J. Aloi to Distribution of 5 Grams or More of a Controlled Substance, Methamphetamine.

     Following entering his guilty plea on Friday, Judge Aloi accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for a time and date to be determined by the U.S. District Court. At the time of sentencing, Wilson faces a mandatory minimum of five years and up to 40 years in federal prison, at least four years of supervised release, and up to a $1 million fine. 

    When sentenced, a U.S. District Court Judge will determine the term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offense and Wilson’s prior criminal history, if any.

According To Charging Documents Filed With The Court

     According to the charging documents filed with the District Court, during an ongoing investigation into the distribution of illicit narcotics within the Randolph County, West Virginia, area, Wilson was identified as a distributor of methamphetamine. During the course of the investigation, Wilson sold methamphetamine to a confidential informant during a controlled purchase under the observation of law enforcement Investigators from his Harmon, West Virginia, residence.

     Acting U.S. Attorney Bernard commended the investigative work of the Mountain Regional Drug Task Force, which led to Wilson’s guilty plea on Friday.
