Southeast D.C. Domestic Dispute Turns Violent, Ending In A Murder, Suicide

WASHINGTON, DC.- Detectives of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department are continuing to search for answers into what led a 43-year-old Southeast, D.C., man to fatally shoot a 38-year-old Southeast, D.C., woman before killing himself during a Saturday night domestic dispute inside a Southeast, D.C., residence.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Saturday, July 12, 2025, just shortly before 8:30 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Sixth District responded to a 911 Emergency Call report a shooting at a residence located on the 4600 Block of G Street in Southeast, D.C.
Upon Arrival, Police Officers Find Domestic Murder, Suicide
Upon arrival, Police Officers located a woman identified as Tiffany Montgomery, 38, of Southeast, D.C. Police Officers also located a man, later identified as Patrick Cockrell, Jr., 43, of Southeast, D.C., inside the residence, both having succumbed to gunshot wounds. Both Ms. Montgomery and Mr. Cockrell were subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services.
During the preliminary investigation, Detectives determined that during a domestic dispute, Mr. Cockrell had fatally shot Ms. Mongomery, before turning the gun on himself and taking his own life.
The investigation remains active and ongoing, as Detectives continue the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting homicide.
