Three-Time Deported Honduran Man Facing Deportation Back To Honduras

WILLIAMSPORT, PA.- Last Thursday, a three-time deported Honduran national learned he will be heading back to Honduras after being turned over to Federal Immigration officials after being sentenced for being illegally present in the United States after being taken into custody in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
According to Acting U.S. Attorney John C. Gurganus, on Thursday, July 17, 2025, Elio Yoel Cardona-Torres, 43, a Honduran national, illegally residing in Sayre, Pennsylvania, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania and was sentenced by Chief U.S. District Judge Matthew W. Brann to time served, after serving five months for Illegal Reentry into the United States by a Deported Alien.
According To Court Documents
According to the charging documents filed in the District Court, Cardona-Torres was taken into custody on February 22, 2025, in Sayre, Pennsylvania, during a targeted enforcement by members of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Enforcement Removal Operations.
Cardona-Torres had previously been removed from the United States pursuant to administrative removal orders in 2006, 2008, and again in 2010. Following his 2010 removal, Cardona-Torres reentered the United States on an unknown date and at an unknown location without obtaining permission or legal authorization to do so.
   Acting U.S. Attorney commended the investigative work of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which led to the apprehension and successful prosecution of Cardona-Torres.Â
