Morris County Mother Charged With The Death Of Her Young Daughter

FLORHAM PARK, NJ.- On Tuesday, a 43-year-old Florham Park, New Jersey, woman was taken into custody after being released from the hospital and jailed and formally charged in connection with the death of her 3-year-old daughter that occurred earlier this month inside their Florham Park, New Jersey, home.
According to Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, on Sunday, July 6, 2025, shortly after 10:30 p.m., members of the Florham Park Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting an unconscious woman being found inside a Woods End Road residence in the Borough.
Police Officers Find The Mother Jeanine Glass Unconscious
Upon arrival, Police Officers and Florham Park Emergency Medical Services located a woman, later identified as Jeanine Glass, 43, unresponsive on the first floor of the home. Police Officers noticed that her clothes were wet. Ms. Glass was immediately transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Police Officers Then Find The Young Child In The Bathtub
Responding Police Officers were accompanied by a family member upstairs to gather information regarding the condition in which Ms. Glass was found. In an upstairs hallway bathroom, Police Officers found a three-year-old girl unresponsive, fully dressed, lying face down in a bathtub in several inches of water. Police Officers and Emergency Medical Services personnel immediately performed life-saving measures, and the child was transported to a nearby hospital, where, despite life-saving efforts, the young girl tragically succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased a short time later.
A post-mortem examination by the Morris County Medical Examiners Office remains pending.
Following an investigation by Detectives of the Florham Park Police Department and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit with the assistance of Morris County Sheriff’s Office Crime Investigations Unit on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, Glass was formally charged with one count of first-degree Murder; and second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
Upon her release from the hospital, she was taken into custody and transported to the Morris County Correctional Facility, where she will remain detained pending trial in Morris County Superior Court in Morristown, New Jersey.
Prosecutor Carroll said, “The death of the little girl is a heartbreaking and senseless loss for the Florham Park community. Our hearts go out to all those coping with this unconscionable tragedy, including loved ones and first responders who answered the call that night. For the sake of the surviving family, we ask that citizens exercise discretion and compassion while discussing the situation on social media. Please remember that these are real people, your neighbors, involved here.”
Florham Park Police Chief Joseph Orlando said, “I want to thank the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office and the Morris County Sheriff’s Department for the interagency cooperation exhibited during this horrific incident, which allowed for a successful conclusion to what is the most heinous of crimes. In particular, I want to recognize the investigative efforts of Detective Sergeant Pietropinto, Detective Jenna Powers, and the Morris County Sheriff’s Department Criminal Investigations Division, all of whose professionalism contributed to the outcome of this investigation.”
