Police Are Actively Investigating The Death Of A Missing Southeast D.C. Man

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Friday, July 25, 2025, D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith reported that Detectives of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department and the Prince George’s County Police Department are actively investigating the tragic death of an elderly Southeast, D.C., man, who was reported missing by family members late last month.
On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, Frankie Jones, Sr., 73, of Southeast, D.C., was reported missing by family members after they were unable to locate him. Mr. Jones was last seen leaving his Southeast, D.C., residence.
Following the report, Mr. Jones was listed as a Critical Missing Person by the Metropolitan Police Department’s Missing Person Unit, and a flier was distributed to the public throughout Washington, D.C., and the surrounding areas. Over the following weeks, an extensive search was conducted throughout the area, including multiple canvases and the deployment of a D.C. Metropolitan Police drone.
On Monday, Police Discover The Body Of Mr. Jones
Last Monday, July 21, 2025, Police Officers made the grim discovery of human remains during a canvass of a wooded area in Oxon Hill, Maryland, just across the District of Columbia line. The remains were transported to the Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, where the remains were positively identified as Mr. Jones.
The case remains active and ongoing. The Cause and Manner of Death are pending the findings of the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office.
