ERIE, PA.- Last Thursday, a 27-year-old former Erie, Pennsylvania, man, who was facing up to 50 years in prison, thought he was getting off easy when a U.S. District Court Judge sentenced him to six years in federal prison for his conviction on federal narcotics trafficking and firearms offenses, only to learn that there was one caveat with the sentence, he must first finish his state prison sentence before his federal sentence can commence.

According to Acting U.S. Attorney Troy Rivetti, on Thursday, July 24, 2025, Djimon Dapree Johnson, 27, formerly of Erie, Pennsylvania, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Susan Paradise Baxter to 72 months in federal prison, to be followed by four years of supervised release, after being convicted on violating federal firearms and narcotics laws.

Johnson Previously Convicted On A Two-Count Indictment

Johnson was previously convicted on a two-count indictment, charging him with Possession with Intent to Distribute 40 Grams or More of a Controlled Substance, Fentanyl; and being a Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm, Convicted Felon.

According to the charging information filed with the District Court, on or about October 20, 2021, Johnson, within the Western District of Pennsylvania, knowingly possessed with the intent to distribute 382.61 grams of a mixture and substance containing fentanyl. In addition, Johnson possessed two stolen firearms and a 50-round 9mm drum magazine by a convicted felon.

In handing down the sentence on Thursday, Judge Baxter ordered that Johnson’s federal term of imprisonment be served consecutively to the sentence Johnson is already serving for violation of his parole for an unlicensed firearms conviction.
