WASHINGTON, DC.- On Saturday, July 26, 2025, a 22-year-old Southeast, D.C., woman was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with an apparent domestic dispute that turned violent, resulting in the tragic stabbing death of a 63-year-old Southwest, D.C., man that occurred earlier in the day, in Southwest, D.C.

According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Saturday, July 26, 2025, just shortly after 6:30 a.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Seventh District responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a domestic dispute on the Unit Block of Galveston Street in Southwest, D.C.

Upon Arrival, Police Officers Find Man Stabbed Multiple Times

Upon arrival, Police Officers located a man, later identified as Robert Dent, 63, of Southeast, D.C., unresponsive, having succumbed to multiple stab wounds. Mr. Dent was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services.

During the initial investigation, Responding Police Officers located and detained Anna Hyman, 22, of Southeast, D.C., and she was transported to the Metropolitan Police Department Homicide Branch. Based on the subsequent investigation, Detectives determined that during a domestic dispute, Hyman took out a knife and stabbed Mr. Dent multiple times, resulting in his death.

Following The Investigation, Hyman Is Charged

Accordingly, later in the day, on Saturday, Hyman was taken into custody and formally charged with second-degree Murder While Armed and related weapons offenses. She was processed on the charges and was remanded to the D.C. Central Detention Facility, pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
