According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. The Police Officer approached the vehicle and discovered the car was locked and was not running. The Officer quickly retrieved a lock-out tool from his patrol car, made entry into the vehicle, and quickly removed the child from the hot car. Lakewood Township Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the child to Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus in Lakewood, where he was treated and released.
During the ensuing investigation, Detectives of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and the Lakewood Township Police Department determined that Simcha Feldman, 34, of Lakewood, New Jersey, parked his vehicle in the parking lot and left his two-year-old son unattended in the locked vehicle for around 24 minutes. When Feldman returned to the vehicle, he was taken into custody and formally charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
