Socorro Man Convicted Of Trafficking Cocaine Into Pennsylvania

PITTSBURGH, PA.- A 39-year-old Socorro, Texas, man will be facing up to 40 years in federal prison, when sentenced later this year, after being found guilty on Tuesday, in Federal Court in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in connection with transporting five kilograms of cocaine into the Western District of Pennsylvania.
According to Acting U.S. Attorney Troy Rivetti, on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, following a six-day trial before U.S. District Court Judge Joy Flowers Conti, a Federal Jury for the Western District of Pennsylvania found Jorge Luis Guerrero, 39, of Socorro, Texas, guilty of Possession with Intent to Distribute 500 Grams or More of a Controlled Substance, Cocaine.
Guerrero Is Scheduled To Be Sentenced On December 10, 2025
Following the jury returning their findings of guilt, Judge Conti accepted the verdict and scheduled sentencing for December 10, 2025. At that time, Guerrero faces a mandatory minimum of five years and up to 40 years in federal prison, at least four years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $5 million. At sentencing, a U.S. District Court Judge will determine the term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offense and Guerrero’s prior criminal history, if any.
According to the evidence presented at trial, proved beyond a reasonable doubt that Guerrero transported five kilograms of cocaine into the Western District of Pennsylvania in a hidden compartment in the bumper of a motor vehicle registered to his wife.
In order to access the concealed cocaine, the bumper cover and the bumper had to be removed, and then additional metal plates that concealed the compartment housing the cocaine.
   Acting U.S. Attorney Rivetti commended the investigative work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the Socorro Police Department, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection, which led to the apprehension and Tuesday’s conviction of Guerrero.
