Maryland Fatally Gunned Down Sunday Night In Northwest D.C.

WASHINGTON, DC.- A 27-year-old Riverdale, Maryland, man becomes the latest victim of the continuing gun violence plaguing the streets of Washington, D.C., after he was fatally gunned down late Sunday night in Northwest, D.C.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Sunday, August 3, 2025, just shortly after 11:00 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s First District responded to reports of a shooting on the 400 Block of New Jersey Avenue in Northwest, D.C.
Police Find Maryland Man Shot Multiple Times
Upon arrival, Police Officers located a man, later identified as Akim Toure, 27, of Riverdale, Maryland, unresponsive on the ground, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Mr. Toure was immediately transported by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services to a nearby hospital, where, despite life-saving efforts by doctors, Mr Toure tragically succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased a short time later.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made as Detectives continue the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of Mr.Toure.
