Teaneck Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting A Child Over Five Years

TEANECK, NJ.- On Saturday, following a swift-moving investigation, a 37-year-old Teaneck, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with the alleged years-long sexual assault of a child under the age of sixteen that occurred in Teaneck, New Jersey.

     According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, on Friday, August 1, 2025, a Caseworker from the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged sexual abuse of a juvenile under 16 years old, and an investigation was launched.

Investigation Uncovers Five Years Of Sexual Abuse

     During the ensuing investigation, Detectives of the Bergen County Special Victims Unit and the Teaneck Police Department, following interviewing witnesses, including the child victim, quickly determined that Diego A. Zhinin, 37, of Teaneck, New Jersey, allegedly sexually assaulted the child, who was under the age of sixteen, on multiple occasions beginning in 2020 and lasting through July 2025, in Teaneck, New Jersey.

     Accordingly, as a result of the investigation, on Saturday, August 2, 2025, Zhinin was taken into custody in Teaneck, New Jersey, and formally charged with second-degree Sexual Assault; two counts of second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; and third-degree Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact.

     Zhinin was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Bergen County Jail, pending future court proceedings in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
