Police Charge Man In Early Sunday Morning Shooting In Phillipsburg

PHILLIPSBURG, NJ.- A 20-year-old Phillipsburg, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with allegedly shooting multiple rounds into an occupied home during the early morning hours on Sunday in the Town of Phillipsburg, New Jersey.

     According to Acting Warren County Prosecutor Jessica L. Cardone, on Sunday, August 3, 2025, just shortly after 3:30 a.m., members of the Phillipsburg Police Department responded to multiple shot ShotSpotter activation on the 400 Block of Anderson Street in the Town of Phillipsburg.

Upon Arrival, Police Officers Find Home Struck Mulriple Times

     Upon arrival, Police Officers discovered that a suspect had fired several shots at a residence, one of which went through a window. During the initial investigation,  Police Officers were able to determine that no one sustained any injuries in the shooting. During the ensuing investigation, Detectives recovered video footage from the area, which led to the identification of the shooter as Andrew R. Weaver, 20, of Phillipsburg, New Jersey.

     Accordingly, on Sunday, Weaver was charged on a complaint warrant with second-degree Aggravated Assault; second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and third-degree Criminal Mischief, and Weaver’s name was entered into the National Crime Information Center database as wanted for a violent crime.

Weaver Was Apprehended 12 Hours Later In Pennsylvania

     Just around twelve hours later, at around 3:00 p.m., Pennsylvania State Police apprehended Weaver during a motor vehicle traffic stop, in which he was a passenger. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, State Troopers located a Glock 9mm semi-automatic handgun inside the vehicle.

     Weaver was processed on the charges and was lodged in the Lehigh County Prison on a fugitive from justice warrant pending extradition to New Jersey.
