Pittsburgh Drug Dealer Sentenced For Armed Fentanyl Trafficking

PITTSBURGH, PA.- A 21-year-old Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, man and local drug dealer will be spending over five years in federal prison, after being sentenced on Tuesday, in Federal Court in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, for armed drug distribution.
According to Acting U.S. Attorney Troy Rivetti, on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, Marques Coffey, 21, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and was sentenced by Senior U.S. District Court Judge David S. Cercone to 63 months in federal prison, to be followed by five years of supervised release, on his convictions of Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Fentanyl; and Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of a Drug Trafficking Crime.
According To Court Documents
According to the charging documents filed with the District Court, on March 4, 2023, Coffey, a known drug dealer, was stopped by members of the Bellevue Borough Police Department. During a search of a satchel that Coffey was wearing, Police Officers located and seized a quantity of fentanyl and a Glock handgun with a “Switch” conversion kit attached to the handgun, converting the handgun into a fully automatic machine gun.
Coffey knowingly possessed the fentanyl and had the intent to distribute the controlled substance, and further possessed the fully automatic handgun in furtherance of his drug trafficking activities.
Acting U.S. Attorney Rivetti commended the investigative work of the Bellevue Borough Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, which led to the successful prosecution of Coffey.
