Teenager Charged In Tuesday Afternoon Shooting In The Town Of Phillipsburg

PHILLIPSBURG, NJ.- A 17-year-old boy learned he will remain detained after being taken into custody and charged in connection with a shooting incident that occurred during the afternoon hours on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, in the Town of Phillipsburg.
According to Acting Warren County Prosecutor Jessica L. Cardone, on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at around 4:15 p.m., members of the Phillipsburg Police Department responded to a multi-shot ShotSpotter activation on the 100 Block of Henderson Street in the Town of Phillipsburg, New Jersey.
Police Find Shell Casings And A Parked Car Damaged From Gunfire
Upon arrival, Police Officers located shell casings at the corner of Henderson and Wilson Streets. Police Officers also located a parked motor vehicle that had been struck by multiple gunshots in the immediate area. During the initial investigation, Police Officers and Detectives quickly determined that no one was injured in the shooting incident.
Detectives Identified The Teen From Area Video Footage
During the ensuing investigation, Detectives recovered area video surveillance footage that was able to identify a 17-year-old boy as the shooter. Following being identified, the teen, whose name is being withheld due to his age, was taken into custody and formally charged with juvenile delinquency on the counts of second-degree Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Assault; second-degree Aggravated Assault; second-degree Failure to Possess a Permit to Carry a Firearm; second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; and fourth-degree Criminal Mischief.
The charges were filed on a warrant complaint, and the teen was remanded under a juvenile custody order pending a preliminary hearing in Warren County Superior Court Family Law Division in Belvidere, New Jersey.
