Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office Takes Over Franklin Township Police Department

FLEMINGTON, NJ.- On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renee M.Robeson reported that, effective immediately, as the Chief Law Enforcement Officer for the County of Hunterdon, New Jersey, the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office has superseded the Franklin Township Police Department and will supervise the day-to-day operations of the Franklin Township Police Department until further notice.

     The Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office has determined it necessary to take control of the department following the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the events that led up to a double homicide that occurred on or about Friday, August 1, 2025, in the Pittstown section of Franklin Township, New Jersey, which has raised serious concerns about the Frankin Township Police Department’s operations and effectiveness.

     Accordingly, the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office will assume control of the Franklin Township Police Department through the leadership of the interim Officer-in-Charge, Captain Paul Approvato of the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office.

Police Chief And Sergeant Placed On Administrative Leave

     Franklin Township Police Chief Timothy Snyder and Sergeant Kevin Bollaro have been placed on administrative leave by the Franklin Township council.

     The investigations into last Saturday’s homicides and the Franklin Township Police Department remain active and ongoing.
