Prosecution And Conviction Stems From A State Police Investigation
In July 2023, the Maryland Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received two CyberTips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, indicating that a Google user uploaded 51 media files containing child pornography between October 2022 and July 2023. Law enforcement Investigators traced the CyberTips to an IP address associated with Watson’s Fort Washington, Maryland, address.
Then, in October 2023, Investigators obtained and executed a court-authorized search warrant at Watson’s residence. During a Maryland State Police Interview, Watson admitted to Investigators viewing, possessing, and distributing child pornography. During the search, Investigators additionally seized five electronic devices from a basement bedroom where Watson was sleeping.
During a subsequent forensic examination of the seized devices, Investigators uncovered and identified more than 600 media files containing child pornography, including nude digital images and video files of Watson’s two child victims, as well as other young children. Additionally, Investigators uncovered multiple online conversations on Watson’s Instagram account, which revealed that Watson was attempting to sell the child pornography he created of his two victims for money.
During Watson’s 2023, Arrest He Admits To Filming The Victims
In November 2023, Investigators arrested Watson at his Fort Washington residence on a federal arrest warrant. During an interview during his arrest, Watson admitted to photographing and video recording his two young victims at his residence. Additionally, Investigators found conversations on his Instagram account, in which he attempted to sell the nude digital images and video files of his two victims to at least three Instagram users.
U.S. Attorney Hayes commended the investigative work of the Maryland State Police and Homeland Security Investigations, which led to the successful prosecution of Watson.
