PLAINSBORO, NJ.- Detectives of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Plainsboro Township Police Department are continuing the investigation into an early Friday morning multi-vehicle collision that tragically claimed the life of a 20-year-old Somerset, New Jersey, man, and left another man hospitalized and listed in critical condition.

According to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone, on Friday, August 8, 2025, just minutes after 1:00 a.m., members of the Plainsboro Police Department responded to reports of a serious multi-vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 1 South and College Road in Plainsboro Township, New Jersey.

Upon Arrival, Police Officers Locate Three Vehicle Crash

Upon arrival, Police Officers found an Acura TSX, a dump truck, and a Hyundai Genesis that were involved in the crash.

During the initial investigation, Patrol Officer Richard Wolak of the Plainsboro Township Police Department and Detective James Barnes of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office determined that the Acura TSX collided with the back of the dump truck, causing the truck to be pushed into the left lane. As a result, the dump truck was struck by the Hyundai Genesis.

The driver of the Acura TSX, identified as Johnathan Martinez, 20, of Somerset, New Jersey, succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash and was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene. The passenger of the Acura TSX sustained serious injuries and was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, and remains hospitalized, and as of yesterday, is listed in critical condition.

The drivers of the Hyundai Genesis and the dump truck sustained minor injuries in the crash and are listed in stable condition.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. Anyone with additional information is urged to contact Officer Dan Titan of the Plainsboro Township Police Department at (609) 799-2333 or Detective Barnes of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at (732) 745-3347.
