PHILLIPSBURG, NJ.- On Saturday, a 17-year-old became the second teen to be taken into custody and detained after being charged in connection with an alleged shooting that occurred last Tuesday, in the Town of Phillipsburg, New Jersey.

     According to Acting Warren County Prosecutor Jessica L. Cardone, as a result of the ongoing investigation into a shooting that occurred on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, on the 100 Block of Henderson Street, in the Town of Phillipsburg, a second 17-year-old juvenile was formally charged with juvenile delinquency on a Complaint Warrant with the following offenses;

Conspiracy Charges Filed Against Second Juvenile

      Second-degree Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Assault; second-degree Conspiracy to Commit Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; Conspiracy to Commit Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and third-degree Conspiracy to Commit Criminal Mischief. The charges were filed on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, and on Saturday, August 9, 2025, the juvenile surrendered to Detectives at the Phillipsburg Police Department.

     The teenager was processed on the charges and remanded under a custody order pending future court proceedings in Warren County Superior Court Family Law Division in Belvidere, New Jersey.

Charges Are A Result Of Last Tuesday’s Shooting Investigation

     The charges stem from an investigation that began on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, when, shortly after 4:15 p.m., members of the Phillipsburg Police Department responded to a multi-round ShotSpotter activation and reports of gunfire on the 100 Block of Henderson Street in the Town of Phillipsburg.

     Upon arrival, Police Officers found evidence of a shooting crime scene and a parked motor vehicle that had been struck by gunfire. During the initial investigation, Responding Police Officers determined that no one was injured in the shooting. During a swift-moving investigation, Detectives and Police Officers recovered area video surveillance footage, which led to the two teenagers being charged in connection with the shooting.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: As in adult criminal cases, the charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and a juvenile defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
