Man Struck By Gunfire Monday Afternoon In The City Of Paterson

PATERSON, NJ.- Detectives of the Paterson Police Department and the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office are continuing the investigation into the circumstances surrounding a shooting that occurred early Monday afternoon, leaving a 19-year-old man hospitalized after being struck by gunfire in the Eastside of Paterson, New Jersey.
According to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes, on Monday, August 11, 2025, just minutes before 2:00 p.m., members of the Paterson Police Department responded to reports of gunfire near the intersection of 11th Avenue and East 23rd Street in the City of Paterson.
Police Officers Find Shooting Victim Later In The Evening
Upon arrival, Police Officers found shell casings and evidence of a shooting crime scene, but were unable to locate a victim. Later on Monday evening, members of the Paterson Police Department responded to the area of Fair and East 18th Streets, after receiving a 911 Emergency Call reporting a man suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
Upon arrival, Police Officers found a 19-year-old Paterson, New Jersey, man who had sustained a gunshot wound. The man was immediately transported by Paterson Fire and Emergency Medical Services to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center for treatment.
Detectives Determine The Man Was Shot Earlier In The Day
During the ensuing investigation and following interviewing the victim, Detectives determined that the man was shot earlier on Monday in the area of 11th Avenue and East 23rd Street in the City of Paterson.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been reported, as Detectives continue the search for the gunman and a motive for the shooting.
