Police Charge Teen In Southeast Fatal Shooting Of 16-Year-Old

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Monday, a 17-year-old Southeast, D.C. boy was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with fatally gunning down a 16-year-old boy back in May in Southeast, D.C.

     According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, just shortly after 9:30 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s First District responded to reports of gunfire on the 1000 Block of 3rd Place in Southeast, D.C.

Police Officers Find 16-Year-Old Fatally Shot

     Upon arrival, Police Officers found a male teen, later identified as Dominique Dingle, 16, of Southeast, D.C., unresponsive, having succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds. Dominique was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services.

     During the ensuing investigation, D.C. Metropolitan Police Homicide Branch Detectives were able to identify Leroy Dixon, 17, of Southeast, D.C., as the suspect and the individual responsible for the death of Dominique Dingle, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

     On Monday, August 11, 2025, pursuant to a D.C. Superior Court warrant, Dixon was taken into custody and charged as an adult with one count of second-degree Murder While Armed and related weapons offenses. Dixon was processed on the charge and was remanded to the D.C. Central Detention Facility, pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
