Cochranville Charged With Attempted Child Sexual Assault & Pornography Crimes

CAMDEN, NJ.- On Tuesday, following an investigation, a 34-year-old Cochranville, Pennsylvania, man, and accused child predator, was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with attempting to meet an underage girl for a sexual encounter after communicating with an undercover Detective during an online child sex crimes investigation.

     According to Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay, Benjamin J. Wann, 34, of Cochranville, Pennsylvania, was formally charged on Monday, August 11, 2025, with one count of first-degree Attempted Manufacturing of Child Pornography; one count of second-degree Attempted Sexual Assault of a Child; and fourth-degree Attempted Criminal Sexual Contact.

     Wann was additionally charged with two counts each of third-degree Attempted Endangering the Welfare of a Child; third-degree Attempting Showing of Obscene Material to a Minor; and third-degree Attempted Showing of an Obscene Film to a Minor. Wann was taken into custody on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, in Newark, Delaware, by members of the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force and U.S. Marshals Service First State Fugitive Task Force.

     Wann was processed on the charges and lodged in the Howard R. Young Correctional Facility on a fugitive from justice warrant, pending extradition to New Jersey.

Charges Stem From Undercover Child Sex Crimes Sting

     The charges and arrest stem from an investigation that alleges that between June and July 2025, Wann was communicating through an online chat application with a person appearing to be a 14-year-old girl. When, actually, the person chatting online with Wann was an undercover Detective from the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crimes Unit.

    During the online conversations, Wann sent sexually explicit digital images of himself to the purported child and requested nude photos of the 14-year-old girl. He ultimately attempted to arrange to meet the girl in a park to engage in unlawful sexual activity. However, the conversation with the Detective ended before the meeting could occur.
