Police Charge Man In June’s Southeast D.C. Shooting Incident

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Thursday, following an investigation, a 29-year-old man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with discharging a firearm at a group of people following an apparent dispute back in June inside a Southeast, D.C residence.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Sunday, June 6, 2025, shortly before 1:00 a.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of gunfire outside a residence located on the 3400 Block of 15th Street in Southeast, D.C.
Police Officers Learn That The Suspect Fired At A Group Of People
Upon arrival, Police Officers learned that a suspect had entered the residence, pulled out a firearm, and pointed it at a victim. The suspect then left the residence, firing the handgun at a group of people, narrowly missing them, and then fled the scene in an unknown direction.
During the ensuing investigation, based on witness accounts and descriptions provided to Responding Police Officers, Detectives were able to identify the gunman as Martez Robinson, 29, of Southeast, D.C., and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Accordingly, on Thursday, August 14, 2025, pursuant to the D.C. Superior Court warrant, Martez was located and taken into custody. Martez was formally charged with one count of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and related weapons offenses. He was processed on the charges and was remanded to the D.C. Central Detention Facility pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
