Schenectady Pill Dealer Pleads Guilty To Federal Narcotics Charge

ALBANY, NY.- A 30-year-old Schenectady, New York man will be facing up to 40 years in federal prison when sentenced later this year, after pleading guilty last Tuesday, to possessing and distributing nearly 2,000 counterfeit pills through the New York State Capital region.

     According to Acting U.S. Attorney John A. Sarcone, III, on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, Keith Edmonds, 30, of Schenectady, New York, appeared in the U.S.District Court for the Northern District of New York and pleaded guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Methamphetamine.

Edmonds Is Scheduled To Be Sentenced In December

     After entering his guilty plea, the court accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for December 11, 2025. At that time, Edmonds faces a mandatory minimum of five years and up to 40 years in federal prison, at least four years, and up to a lifetime of supervised release, and a fine of up to $1 million.

Edmonds Admits To Selling Counterfeit Pills

     During his plea allocution last Tuesday, Edmonds admitted to the court that on April 24, 2025, he possessed 425 counterfeit pills containing methamphetamine that he intended to sell to others. Edmonds also admitted that between October 2024 and March 2025, he sold more than 1,300 pills containing either methamphetamine or benzodiazepine to individuals in New York’s Capital Region.

     Acting U.S. Attorney John A. Sarcone said, “Edmonds brazenly sold poisonous pills in this District and faces a serious term of imprisonment as a result. This office and or law enforcement partners will continue to disrupt, arrest, and prosecute drug dealers in the Northern District of New York.”

     Acting U.S. Attorney commended the investigative work of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the Albany County Sheriff’s Office, and the Schenectady County Sheriff’s Office for the arrest and Edmonds’ guilty plea on Tuesday.
