Police Charge Man In Sunday Morning Northwest D.C. Assault

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Sunday, a 19-year-old Waldorf, Maryland, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with an assault that occurred Sunday morning in Northwest, D.C.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at just around 6:00 a.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting an assault on the 2200 Block of 8th Street in Northwest, D.C.
Police Officers Find Victim Injured After Being Struck By A Bottle
Upon arrival, Police Officers located a victim who reported that while on 8th Street, they became involved in a verbal altercation with the suspect. During the altercation, the suspect picked up a bottle and struck the victim, causing injuries, before fleeing the scene. The victim was transported by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services to a local hospital, where they were treated and later released.
Suspect Apprehended A Short Time Later
A short time later, based on the description provided by the victim, Police Officers located and arrested the alleged suspect, identified as Myles Selby, 19, of Waldorf, Maryland. Selby was formally charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. He was processed on the charge and was remanded to the D.C. Central Detention Facility pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
