Philadelphia Man Charged with Criminal Impersonation & Robbery

PHILADELPHIA, PA.- A 44-year-old Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, man is facing over two decades in federal prison after being charged by federal indictment with allegedly impersonating a federal law enforcement officer to gain entry and rob a local auto repair shop.
According to U.S. Attorney David Metcalf, on Monday, August 18, 2025, a Federal Grand Jury for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania returned an indictment charging Robert Rosado, 44, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with one count of False Impersonation of a Federal Officer; and one count of Hobbs Act Robbery.
According To The Charging Information Filed In The Indictment
According to the charging information unsealed in the indictment and filed with the District Court, it is alleged that on June 8, 2025, Rosado entered an auto repair business located on the 6400 Block of Harbison Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia and identified himself as a federal immigration and customs enforcement officer. It is further alleged that he victimized a female employee by forcefully restraining her and then stealing $1,000 from the business.
If convicted at trial, Rosado faces a maximum of 23 years in federal prison, at least three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $500,000.
U.S. Attorney Metcalf commended the investigative work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation-Philadelphia Violent Crimes Task Force and the Philadelphia Police Department, which led to the apprehension and indictment of Rosado.
