PITTSBURGH, PA.- A 25-year-old Bridgeville, Pennsylvania, man, learned he will be spending the next decade and a half in federal prison, after being sentenced for sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl, filming the abuse, and creating child pornography.

According to Acting U.S. Attorney Troy Rivetti, on Thursday, August 21, 2025, Matthew Trax, 25, of Bridgeville, Pennsylvania, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge W. Scott Hardy to 180 months in federal prison, to be followed by ten years of supervised release for his conviction of Production of Child Pornography.

According To Court Documents

According to court documents filed with the District Court, during a child sexual exploitation investigation, local, state, and federal Investigators determined that Trax enticed and persuaded a 14-year-old girl to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of creating digital images and video files of the conduct.

Trax then sent the 14-year-old girl a video file of himself engaged in sexual intercourse with the girl, which Trax video recorded with his cellular phone.

In handing down the sentence, Judge Hardy stated that Trax’s federal offense was extremely serious and noted how such conduct victimizes the most vulnerable members of our community, children. Judge Hardy further noted that the imposed federal sentence serves not only to punish the defendant for his conduct and to protect the community, but also to deter Trax and other individuals who may seek to exploit children from engaging in such conduct.

Acting U.S. Attorney commended the investigative work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Mt. Lebanon Police Department, the South Fayette Police Department, and the Allegheny County Police Department, which led to the successful prosecution of Trax.
